Programs

Current Initiatives & Projects

Breaking Bread

As an organization whose mission is to serve the physical needs of the members of our community, we give back to the less fortunate members of our community through our “Breaking Bread” Food Ministry. With the help of volunteers, we provide food and personal care items to individuals in need every month.

Chamba

This is our job training, job placement and job bank at Holding Institute.

We believe in the value of self reliance, and helping people attain and maintain a measure of self-worth

Community Discipleship

Community Discipleship Program offers education, counseling and evaluation to struggling individuals and their respective families in a supportive, nurturing environment.

Prospera – Life Skills

At Holding Institute is a top life skills program helping individuals with independent living skills and life skills training.

All too often, however, we see that bright and gifted individuals will experience great struggles upon entering the “real world.” This struggle is the primary reason that Holding Institute developed outreach services to reach people at their point of need.

El Sol

El Sol Community is a strategic response to the challenges that emerge at the intersection of migration, climate change and affordable energy access.

We are developing a strategic plan to convert our center to a self-sustaining site.

Community Health

Our health team includes a Wesley Nurse and a pharmaceutical support leader. Togehter they focus on families without primary medical access

Community Participation

The relationship between service provision and recipient of services has always placed emphasis on retention of individual dignity and respect. That relationship has been increasingly difficult as we have continued to operate non-stop throughout our everchanging climate. The level of participation is based on how much the participant is comfortable with, and we continue to see sustainable level of participant involvement throughout. Local partners directly contributing to this ministry project includes – Latter Day Saints, Habitat for Humanity, Laredo Housing Authority, First United Methodist Church Laredo, Sisters of Divine Mercy, LULAC, City of Laredo, Webb County, Bethany House, Methodist Health Care, and Grace Bible Church.

Our national sponsor whom we are in a covenant relationship with is United Methodist Women (as of March 2022 now listed as United Women in Faith)
